...this is what the ancient saying from Villgratental in East Tyrol confirms. Whilst wood has always been recognised as a building material, the discovery of natural raw materials used to insulate, is fairly recent.
Pure and genuine lamb's wool represents one of the most natural insulation materials and the best imaginable. None of the synthetic materials researched and used in these last few years, produced using wasteful procedures, has managed to outdo the unique benefits provided by this natural product. Ranging from its manufacturing which requires minimal energy through to its physical-technical properties, lamb's wool stands out for its high quality. As it is a natural product, wool boasts the best characteristics under the green building label - in essence, a natural context which ensures well-being.
The insulation products in the region of Villgraten are of Austrian origin (only Austrian lamb's wool is used). The majority of the wool is provided by small-scale farmers and is traditionally, just as it was in past times - washed using soap and treated with lye soda and then rinsed with water. Resistance to moths is secured by soaking it in Mitin FF.
Our insulation materials are constantly tested by recognised, qualified and independent national and international institutions, in order to confirm a high quality product.

Pure virgin wool represents a simple, low-cost alternative which serves to absorb harmful substances present in the air (formaldehydes, ozone gases). During testing, the concentration of toxic substances found in the air under examination, was reduced by over 80%, in just two hours. (Source:GEO,n. 6/’98)
Only pure virgin wool is able to absorb humidity levels of up to 33% of its own weight, releasing them into the environment where necessary. In this way, lamb's wool oversees optimal balance of the air humidity,
ensuring a pleasant and healthy climate.
Humidity absorption generates heat. This represents one of the most important properties of wool which markedly slows down the cooling process. Pure virgin lamb's wool operates as a natural "air-conditioning system”
