FONOPOR
FONOPOR® is a “CE” EN 13163 branded EPS-T panel with fire performance as per Euroclass “E”. FONOPOR® represents the single-product solution in compliance with standards governing acoustic and thermal insulation. FONOPOR® is made of expanded polystyrene added with graphite to ensure increased thermal insulation; the subsequent stretching procedure additionally makes FONOPOR® a product with reduced dynamic rigidity, an ideal characteristic in terms of floor sound insulation.

Copy to clipboardDynamic rigidity
The unit of measurement used to calculate sound insulation relative to footfall and dynamic rigidity. Dynamic rigidity is in inverse proportion to the thickness of the elastic material, the thinner the thickness of the materials, the more the aforementioned stiffens and the dynamic rigidity increases, therefore, the sound insulation is not as effective; vice versa, the greater the thickness, the greater the elasticity of the material and therefore decreased dynamic rigidity, increasing the sound performance of the product.
Compressibility
A characteristic of a resilient material to deform itself elastically whilst maintaining the original thickness and mechanical characteristics. This value is checked according to Standard UNI 12431. Compressibility established according to UNI EN 12431 “Determination of the thickness of insulation used in floating flooring", provides a reliable test case in order to monitor any variations of the thickness of the material in question in the long term. The test procedure necessitates that the material under examination undergoes a loading and unloading cycle for clearly defined pre-set time intervals with loading peaks of up to 50 kPa (approximately 5,100 kg/m2). Compressibility is the thickness variation in mm of the material upon termination of the test cycle. By ascertaining the compressibility of the test sample, it is possible to establish the equivalent CP level and therefore establish the overload threshold according to which the product can safely function without loss of dynamic rigidity with time.
Thermal insulation
FONOPOR, in addition to ensuring increased sound insulation, has increased thermal insulation ability thanks to the graphite particles forming part of the raw material.
